Trick or Treat
Our Trick or Treat started how many ended; with our soon to be three year old losing her cookies all over the living room floor. Yes, our little chocolate fiend got sick off her first piece of candy - all before even stepping out the front door. Don't worry-I did NOT take a picture of this!
Lukily, the rest of the night was a much bigger success and both kids were in state of exhaustion, and near comatose shortly after we shut the front door and turned off the lights; officially ending Cedar Groves Trick or Treat 2012.
Holden went as a lumberjack, which I realize in Texas Halloween weather this may not have been the best costume choice (note Isla's Strawberry Shortcake sundress...)
Shortly after the "incident" involving the contraband candy, we tried to get the kids to take a
decent
photo together. This is what Jordan and I refer to as "the dream". Well, dreams clearly haven't come true yet as evidenced by the kids bizarre expressions in the shot below.
Ahhh, hopefully someday soon...
And with that, we were off. It took Isla a couple houses, but she finally seemed to understand the point of trick or treat this year. And once she got it, she didn't want to stop. I am pretty sure she would have walked the whole neighborhood if we had let her. She still wanted to go in all our neighbors houses, and commented on all the architectural features like their staircases, etc... but she seemed to be placated by the massive amounts of candy she was receiving.
As we turned back onto our street for the homestretch we saw this:
This is how they Trick or Treat in Cinco Ranch. This tractor pulled three cars full of kids from house to house... This was joined by go karts, and families golf carts. Things sure have changed since I was a kid.
The night was a success with the booty to prove it. As always, Holden was just happy to be along for the ride and stayed firmly glued to either Mommy or Daddy's hip - Happy Halloween everyone!
