I'm Back!!!
I apologize for the long break - between adult friends, kids friends, family, vacations and normal day-to-day activities we have been pretty busy around here. Let me try and catch you up on what's been happening in our lives.
Anna Maria Island Florida
A couple weeks ago Jordan and I were lucky enough to leave the kids with Nana and take a four day trip to sunny Florida. Our friend Matt who we have known since college was getting married, and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. We saw old friends, and met some great new people. The trip was definitely not as relaxing as we expected it to be, but it was a TON of fun, and we are so glad we made it.
The island of Anna Maria is beautiful, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for some place new to go in Florida.
The shot of us didn't exactly turn out...
It was a beautiful wedding and such a nice way to celebrate such a special couple. We wish you all the joy and happiness in the world Kim and Matt! Thanks for including us in your weekend!
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the best Nana ever. Jordan's mom came to Texas and watched our kids for basically a whole week. We can't express how much this means to us, and how thankful we are to have her. The kids miss their Nana/Nanny/Granny/Grammy (Isla gave her a couple new names while she was here), terribly, and I can tell she spoiled them like Nana's are supposed to. Thank you so much Mary Ann! We are all
so lucky to have you!
Our Everyday
Everything else has been a blur of swimming pools, splash pads, parks and playtime.
Isla is currently obsessed with her friends (everyone she sees who is close to her age is a "friend"). She is constantly asking me who is coming to her house to play with her that day, so we have had quite a few playdates in the past couple of weeks.
Between that, swim lessons, gymnastics and preschool she has been pretty busy; but that's the way she likes it. I swear that kid has boundless energy and never seems to get tired. As a child who hasn't napped since age 2, I would assume around bedtime she would be pretty sleepy...yet, you can usually find her running back and forth on our sectional or practicing her handstands and tumbles.
She also has an extremely active imagination. Very rarely are we "Mommy and Daddy" to Isla. She will frequently call us a range of different names, and we know who she is, by the name that she is currently calling us. One of her favorites is "Izzy" from the Disney show,
Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
If she tells us she's "Izzy", then we know Jordan is supposed to be "Jake", I'm "Red Jessica", and Holden is "Cubby". Oh yeah, and the dog Teddy? He's "Captain Hook".
Everyday is truly an adventure with our sweet little curly haired girl.
And even though Holden still looks like a baby to me, since he is, and always will be "my baby", he is growing and changing right before our eyes. He is so expressive and is developing such a large personality.
He loves dancing, cheerios, hide-n-seek, building towers, tickles, books and his newest skill: pointing at anything and everything.
Lately he has had some major separation anxiety, and this is often the face I see staring up at me as he's tightly wound around my legs. He also loves his big sister, his dog Teddy and a singing Justin Bieber beaver... Don't ask.
And everything is so exciting to him. No matter how many times he pushes the button to make the beaver sing, he always looks up at us with a huge proud smile on his face.
Today was back to school in Texas, and as I read all the status updates, of friends sending their kids off to kindergarten, I can't help but imagine myself dropping my kids off for a full day of school, in the not so distant future. It's hard to grasp... So for now, I'll just enjoy these pictures of them having far too much fun than most do in the bathtub, and count my blessings for the wonderful time I am able to spend with them while they are just my babies, and not a student at an elementary school, a football player on the team, or a cheerleader on the squad... just my little babies, at home with their Mama.
Oh yeah - and here's the last two weeks according to Instagram:
