Trick or Treat
In some miraculous act of Mother Nature, the clouds separated, the sun peeked out, and the rain drenched ground started to dry up. Literally, just in time to make a whole lot of kids in Cinco Ranch VERY happy. Trick or Treat was on!!! We headed down the street to our neighborhood parade.
The kids had a good time seeing some of their friends and meeting some fireman, who according to Isla are just the same as super heroes, (I cannot disagree). All the firefighters were so nice and patiently helped every kid climb all over their truck and take pictures.
Of course as soon as we got to the parade, Holden was more excited about something else. Jordan took him over to the playground, while Isla played with her friends, and I caught up with some of mine.
When Isla found out that we were going home to have dinner before going trick - or - treating, she had a mini-breakdown. This kid has been waiting for Trick - or - Treat for at least a good month now, which as we all know is basically a year in adult time. The idea of waiting even thirty minutes for candy was tragic. After a few minutes, (and promise of a candy bar before dinner), she pulled herself together and we headed home to eat... and make ANOTHER costume change for Isla. She was not going trick - or - treating as Minnie Mouse. From that point on, we were instructed to call her Izzy (the pirate).
With three years of the holiday under her belt, Isla was ready. She knew exactly what to do, and although she made sure she got every piece of candy offered to her, and refused to skip a house with it's lights on, she made us very happy by screaming "THANK YOU" while fleeing every house she visited.
It was an absolutely perfect night, and we had fun walking around the neighborhood with our friends. We just wanted to make sure that Isla was able to keep up with the big kids. Turns out we didn't have much to worry about, as much of the night it was Isla leading the charge for MORE CANDY!!!
I hope everyone had as successful a Halloween as we did!
