SNOW in HOUSTON
To some parts of the world every Winter is guaranteed to bring snow, however here in South Texas we are not guaranteed snow, and its usually very unlikely to happen. Since the blizzard of 1895 it has only snowed 38 times in the city of Houston. Most of the time a very small amount is reported to be seen, and much of the time not even sticking.
On the morning of December 8th, 2017 some very excited kids woke up to what they may describe as a Winter Wonderland. In effect it was less than an inch... But it STUCK!
I'm not gonna lie, Jordan and I were pretty excited ourselves. After noticing snow on my way home from a girls night, Jordan Isla and I went outside to check it all out - sure that in the morning there would be no evidence that anything special had happened. In the middle of the night I woke up burning up because of the heat in the house. I went to turn the thermostat down and decided to take a peek outside. I couldn't believe what I saw and excitedly woke Jordan up. The snow was
really
coming down now... AND it was
STICKING!
We set our alarms to go off in a couple hours - earlier than normal and went upstairs to wake up our unsuspecting babies.
Holden was over it in seconds much preferring the warm house and breakfast like normal. We were told that he enjoyed it a little more at recess though.
Isla on the other hand had to be dragged back inside to get ready for school.
There was a total excitement in the air the whole day. It was a pretty fun day to be in Katy, Texas. Now, surely it wouldn't snow again in the SAME season... right? Stay Tuned!
