Southern Charm in Charleston, SC

The first thing I can say about this trip is that it was a long time in the making!

My sister Jessie had twins, (a boy and a girl), shortly before the pandemic hit and travel essentially came to a standstill. As a proud Aunt I was devastated to have to continuously push our trip further and further out.

Finally, in Fall of 2020 we decided that the risk was worth it - we had heard that planes were some of the safest places you could be with all the cleaning measures put into effect, and the weather was still nice enough that we would be spending a lot of our time outdoors once we arrived in Charleston. It was decided that Isla and I would make the trip, and FINALLY get to meet our niece, nephew, and in Isla’s case, new cousins as well as spend some time with Jessies older kids, Gabe and Samantha.

The travel was uneventful, albeit strange after nearly a year of no air travel, and we soon arrived at our destination.

We spent the first evening snuggling babies and catching up. Isla helped Jessie pack up some of her etsy products for shipping and learned a little bit about sewing before heading off to bed.

The next morning we got ready for our day out on the beach and downtown Charleston.

These kids really know how to take a photo…

We decided to have lunch looking out over the beach before heading down the boardwalk to explore.

From the beach we made our way over to downtown for some shopping and exploring.

That evening Isla helped out with bath time for the babies and did a surprisingly good job!

It was a fast and frenzied trip but we got a lot of quality time in with Jessie and her beautiful family. There were definitely things we missed, but we’ll just have to make sure to hit them up on the next trip!

Of course if theres a Chili’s, my Isla is going to want to stop at it… (insert confused face/shrugging emoji).

Meanwhile, back in Texas Jordan and Holden had a fun boys weekend together.
